Our History
A group of parents first connected during our children’s elementary years, united by a shared commitment to support the Spanish Immersion program and its unique community of families. What began organically as a small parent group eventually evolved into our nonprofit, growing into a broader network of parents across districts.
Our name reflects the language partnership at the heart of Spanish immersion. Edúcate can be pronounced naturally by both Spanish and English speakers, carrying the same meaning in either language.
Our Team
We’re parents and neighbors who believe families and schools thrive when they work together.
Jenny is a mom to four children and a dog lover. She is a native of Delaware and graduated from University of Delaware with a BA in Elementary Education. Before motherhood, she was a teacher and reading specialist for ten years in both Colonial and Red Clay Consolidated School Districts. Shortly after she began teaching, Jenny obtained an MA in Educational Technology from Wilmington University. The greatest joy in her teaching career was working in City of Wilmington schools. Jenny's love of learning sent her back to school for a second MA in Reading Education. Her principal and mentor knew she was a natural leader and gave Jenny many opportunities to showcase her skills in several roles within the building and at the district level. She was team leader, state testing site coordinator, and a member of Red Clay's Leadership Academy all while she pursued and obtained her School Leadership Certification in the State of Delaware. Jenny created the local chapters of Public School Strong to champion equitable school funding. She is also a strong supporter of growing girls’ wrestling programs across the district and state. Jenny and her husband, Gary, are active with their kids' busy schedules but Jenny always makes time to create connections in the community. She always has time to listen.
Amy has two sons and a granddaughter. Both sons attended Dual Language Immersion elementary schools in Red Clay Consolidated School District and are bilingual in Spanish. A graduate of San Francisco State University with a BA in Language Studies, Amy has worked for the same airline for 30 years. Traveling the world has given her a unique perspective on different cultures, languages and service. She is always ready to volunteer for school events and has served on the Board of her son's parent-teacher organization. One of her most rewarding roles was using social media insights to boost engagement for the school and sports teams. Amy and her husband, Roberto, are deeply dedicated to their family and community, and she is always willing to step in when help is needed.

Parent Network
Our network of parents and caregivers, who keep us connected to what’s happening in their schools and districts, is always growing. The time you spend sending emails, providing translations, or attending local and state meetings helps us share valuable information with other families. If you’d like to become more involved or join us in this mission, we’d love to hear from you!
