The CDC defines Parent Engagement in Schools as a shared responsibility between parents and school staff, working together to support and improve the learning, development, and health of children and adolescents.
Parents play a vital role in their child’s education. For families of English Learners, unique challenges can make engagement even more important. When parents are actively involved, they help guide their children successfully through school, advocate on their behalf, and contribute to a healthier school environment.
Engaged parents not only support their own children, they can also help shape policy, strengthen school climate, and use their voices to inspire positive change.
